Unwrap the Flavor: Step-by-Step Guide to Making Perfect Hot Dog Bread Rolls

Hey there, foodies! Today, we're going to dive into the world of hot dogs and bread, creating something as delicious as it is fun. Yes, you heard it right – Hot Dog Bread Rolls! It's like a breadstick, but with a whole lot of flavor and texture. So, grab your apron, get your ingredients together, and let's get baking!

Here's what you'll need:

- Bread flour

- Granulated sugar

- Salt

- Instant yeast

- Milk powder

- Milk

- Water

-  1 egg

- Unsalted butter

- Precooked hot dogs

- Sesame seeds (optional)

- A stand mixer with a dough hook

- A baking mat or countertop

- A spatula

- An egg wash brush

- An oven

Step By Step

  • First things first, let's get our hands dirty with the dough. Put all your dry ingredients in the stand mixer bowl, then add the milk and water. Once you've got those mixed up, throw in your egg and start mixing. Use the dough hook on medium-high speed until you have a nice, tightly knit dough ball. Then, add in the butter and give it a good mix until everything's well combined. Let the dough rest until it's doubled in size – this could take anywhere from  30 minutes to an hour depending on how fast your dough rises.
  • While your dough is resting, prep your hot dogs. Cut them in half so they're about  5-6 cm long and set them aside. When the dough has risen, it's time to get creative with the shape. Flour your baking mat, hands, and dough to prevent sticking. Now, divide the dough into small pieces, roughly  10g each. Roll each piece into a long thin rope, making sure it's long enough to wrap around a hot dog three times. Pinch the ends to seal them up.
  • Once you've got all your mini hot dog rolls made, let them rise again until they're nice and plump. Preheat your oven to  374°F (190°C) because we want that crispy exterior without burning the insides. While the oven's heating up, prepare your egg wash and sesame seeds if you're using them.
  • Brush each roll with the egg wash and sprinkle on some sesame seeds if you're feeling fancy. Place them on the baking mat and send them into the oven. They should bake for about  11 minutes, but keep an eye on them just to be sure they don't overcook. Once they're done, let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
  • And voila! You've got yourself some deliciously satisfying Hot Dog Bread Rolls. They're perfect for any barbecue, tailgate party, or just a cozy night in watching the game. Enjoy!
