This simple, homemade Cranberry Sauce brings warmth and flavor to your holiday table. Made with just a handful of fresh ingredients like orange juice, brown sugar, and vanilla, it’s ready in just 15 minutes. Enjoy this perfect balance of tart and sweet, inspired by Joanna Gaines' effortless cooking style.

Ingredients

- 12 oz fresh cranberries, rinsed (reserve 1/2 cup for texture)

- 3/4 cup (150g) water

- 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh orange juice (from about 1/2 large orange)

- 3/4 cup (150g) packed light or dark brown sugar

- 1 tsp orange zest

- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Orange

1. Zest the orange first, then slice it to juice about 1/4 cup. (It’s easier to zest the orange while whole.)

2. Set the zest aside and reserve 1/2 cup of cranberries for later.

2. Cook the Cranberries

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the remaining cranberries, water, orange juice, and brown sugar. Stir to combine.

2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer, stirring occasionally.

3. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low-medium and cook for 10 minutes, stirring periodically. The cranberries will burst, and the liquid will thicken.

3. Add Final Ingredients

1. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the reserved 1/2 cup cranberries, orange zest, and vanilla extract. This adds a delightful texture and a pop of fresh flavor.

2. Allow the sauce to cool slightly—it will continue to thicken as it cools.

4. Serve and Store

1. Serve the cranberry sauce warm or at room temperature for best flavor.

2. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days

Tips & Notes

- Flavor Adjustments:

  - For a tangier sauce, use more orange juice instead of water. For a classic taste, stick with the listed proportions.

- Texture Options:

  - For a silky smooth sauce, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve while warm. Press down on the cranberries to release all the juices.

- Make Ahead:

  - This sauce is even better the next day, making it a great make-ahead option for busy holidays!

This Cranberry Sauce is a delightful addition to your festive feast. Its vibrant flavor and beautiful color will make it a standout side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any special meal. 🌟🍊🍇
